Meet The Staff
Mary Kaplan – Practice Administrator
Mary started working with Dr. Schwartz in 1985 as a chairside dental assistant and has worked her way up to her current position as practice administrator. She is certified with the Dental Assisting National Board and a Lifetime Member of the American Dental Assistants Association. Her favorite thing about working at Colonial Dental Associates are the people, she has known some of the patients so long they are now like family. When not in the office, Mary enjoys being active, attending cultural events, and spending time with her own family and friends.
Lee Oxford – Patient Care Coordinator
Lee has been in the dental field for over 25 years and takes great joy in establishing a positive rapport with Colonial Dental’s patients. Lee is a family orientated, environmentally conscious, animal lover, who enjoys mountain hiking, biking, yoga and growing fresh produce in her garden.
Alessa Dalessandro – Patient Care Coordinator
Alessa brought her positive, upbeat attitude to our Colonial Dental family in the summer of 2020. While you’ll typically see her at our payment desk, she’s also learning how to assist chairside. When not attending classes at College of DuPage, Alessa enjoys outdoor activities, working out, watching movies and being dog mom to Sosa.
Edyta Jesionek – Dental Assistant
Edyta has been with Colonial Dental Associates since 1997. She was born in Poland but immigrated to the United States in 1987. Edyta enjoys socializing with friends and family, weekend getaways, shopping.
Miriam Camacho – Registered Dental Hygienist
Miriam loves to educate patients on improving their oral hygiene and seeing their smiles light up when they take her advice to heart. She received her degree from the University of Illinois – Dental Hygiene Program. When not at work Miriam likes to garden and watch the flowers grow.
Vanessa Hartzell – Registered Dental Hygienist
Vanessa has been giving people healthier smiles at Colonial Dental Associates since 2001. She loves meeting new people and seeing the difference each visit makes in her patients’ oral health. Vanessa received her bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene from Northern Arizona University. Making jewelry and gardening are just a few of the things she likes to do on her time off.
Laura D. Hennessey – Registered Dental Hygienist
Laura has been with Colonial Dental since 2011. She enjoys the close-knit family atmosphere of the practice and being part of a fun and friendly team. Laura graduated form Marquette University in 1988 and continues to have a passion for dentistry that drives her to stay current with new dental and hygiene advances. In her spare time, Laura and her husband enjoy home improvement projects and finding a good movie to relax. Their three dogs keep them busy and entertained daily.
Taylor Wieda – Registered Dental Hygienist
Taylor is the newest member of the team at Colonial Dental, and joined us in December, 2018. She has been working as a Registered Dental Hygienist since 2014, when she graduated from Sanford-Brown College with an Associates Degree in Applied Science. She chose the dental field as a career choice due to her interest, her desire, and her passion to work in the field of oral care. While away from the office, Taylor enjoys being active and spending time with friends and family.
Susan McDade – Registered Dental Hygienist, “Emeritus”
Susan worked for Colonial Dental Associates from 1970, until her retirement in 2018. She was in the first dental hygiene class to graduate from Harper College. She loved seeing the different patients who came in, getting to know their families and watching their kids grow. Susan travels and enjoys seeing friends during her retirement.
